Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives co-organizes SIMA ASEAN 2018

8 Febuary 2018, Bangkok, Thailand – Together with the co-organizer, Thailand’s Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, SIMA ASEAN Thailand 2018 (“SIMA ASEAN”) is set to bring a more comprehensive platform to the agri-business industry. Taking place from 6 – 8 June 2018, SIMA ASEAN features more than 300 companies and brands targeting some 9,000 trade professionals from the region.

Dynamic agri-business landscape

Globally, the agri-business industry is becoming increasingly competitive with fast-moving technology amidst the developments in business environments. With demographic trends, including ageing population and rural urban migration emerging, the agriculture industry is compelled to turn to technology for its survival and development.

Innovation in the agri-business industry

Moving in tandem with the Thailand’s 4.0 policy, the panel discussion today titled, ‘Innovation for the new generation farmers in Thai Agriculture 4.0’ aims to provide insights on how businesses can innovate and keep up with the times. Some of the key topics included:

  • Adapting technology to current practices;
  • Usage of applications to manage businesses; and
  • Usage of drones for agriculture mechanical and “smart farms”.

Speakers included representatives from both the public and private sectors, including the Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Technology and Innovation Association, Young Smart Farmer Thailand Association, Smart Farm (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Green Censor Service Ltd., and Rakbankerd Co., Ltd.

SIMA ASEAN’s Agri-tech zone

A newly launched show feature – the Agri-tech zone, is especially for agricultural companies with a focus on technological products and practices.  This zone creates an opportunity for businesses to promote the adaption of technology and innovation to the agri-business industry. Together with the technological seminars conducted by the local associations, SIMA ASEAN is the perfect platform for knowledge sharing and networking in the region.
