Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning participates in CONCRETE ASIA

The Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning will participate in the 4th edition of CONCRETE ASIA, the international exhibition for the Asian concrete sector, to address the concern of PM 2.5 on construction sites. CONCRETE ASIA is organized by IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd (“IMPACT”), and Comexposium Group, and will take place on 5 – 7 September 2019 at Hall 10, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand.

PM 2.5 dust pollution at construction sites

Mr. Taweekiat Srisakulmakee, Sanning Chief Architect, Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning, stated that “Thailand is facing one of the most harmful air pollutant PM 2.5 caused by particulate emissions from construction activities. Therefore, the government has assigned the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning to set legal measures to monitor air quality by referring to international standards such as ensuring that vehicles carrying construction materials or equipment are properly covered and clean before leaving the site. The new legal measures will cause construction materials, equipment and installation fees to increase by at least 0.20 – 0.70%. The legal measures are meant to raise awareness and prevent such dust pollution. In order to publicize these standards, the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning will be exhibiting in CONCRETE ASIA, addressing the following:

  • Legal Standards For Preventing Dust PM 2.5
  • Building Code
  • Pre-Fabricated Housing
  • Universal Housing
